Prof. Aiellos main areas of expertise are in the coordination of cyber-physical systems in complex, dynamic and uncertain environments. Examples of these are current and future smart grids, smart energy systems, smart cities, smart buildings. The techniques that he develops are in the areas of Artificial Intelligence Planning, Spatial Representation and Reasoning, Complex Network Analysis and Design, Middleware, Service-Oriented Architectures, and Cloud-based systems.
Personal Information
Born in Fabriano/Italy in 1972, Prof. Aiellos career has developed across several European countries. Master degree in Information Engineering from La Sapienza University of Rome. PhD in Formal Logic from the University of Amsterdam, Habilitation in Applied Informatics from the TU Wien. Prof. Aiello held permanent positions at the University of Trento, the University of Groningen, and since 2018 at the University of Stuttgart as chair of the Service Computing Department. He is an Elected Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and serves on the Editorial Board of Springer’s Energy Informatics, Journal on Service Oriented Computing and Applications, Frontiers’ Energy Systems and Policy journal.
