Field of Work
The research activities focus on empirical capital markets, risk management of banks and industrial companies, asset pricing, and financial applications of the blockchain technology. Current projects analyze liquidity, frictions, and intermediation in bond and options markets, bond fund management, and decentralized exchanges based on blockchain technology. Philipp Schuster is a member of the DFG-funded research group "Financial Markets and Frictions - An Intermediary-Based Approach to Asset Pricing".
Personal Information
Philipp Schuster, born in Ludwigsburg in 1984, holds the Chair of ABWL and Finance at the Institute of Business Administration at the University of Stuttgart since 2020. Prior to his work in Stuttgart, he received his PhD in 2014 from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, where he subsequently worked as a junior research group leader and completed his habilitation in 2019. He publishes his research in major journals in the field such as the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Financial Studies, the Review of Finance, and the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. His research has been recognized with awards such as the FIRM Research Award and the University Award of Deutsches Aktieninstitut. He is currently in the top 100 in the ranking of the most research-intensive business economists under the age of 40.
