ready.study.stuttgart – A buddy to help you get started in Stuttgart

To help get you off to a smooth start in Stuttgart, we’ll have one of our student buddies meet you at the airport and help you get settled so you are ready to start your studies.

Please note before filling in the form:
Are you an incoming exchange student who will spend one or more semesters at the University of Stuttgart?
This page and the form below are only for degree-seeking students, including international MSc programs (like COMMAS, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering etc.).

If you are an incoming exchange student (e.g. Erasmus, Overseas exchange, Double Master), please register for the buddy program using this form.

Are you looking forward to your stay at the University of Stuttgart? But how are you going to find your accommodations after arriving at the airport, for example? What about the formalities with the authorities, etc.? It would be nice to have a little help from someone who knows the ropes, wouldn’t it?

Fear not: As one of our international students, you are eligible for a buddy welcome at the airport terminal. He or she will help you buy a ticket for the public transportation and point you toward your new home in Stuttgart and answer the many questions you will have about your first days in Stuttgart.

Additionally, all international exchange students can register for the guidance on formalities. A buddy will assist a small group of international students with such basics as opening a bank account, getting the mandatory health insurance policy, and registering with the residence registration office (Bürgerbüro) as required by German law.

Important information on the registration

  • We can pick you up from the airport in Stuttgart (and any other station in and around Stuttgart) Monday to Friday from 9 am to 7 pm. On Saturdays and Sundays only according to prior agreement.
  • There is only a limited amount of places available (first come, first serve).
  • We can give your contact details to a buddy only if you provided us with your exact arrival time and details no later than three weeks prior to your arrival in Stuttgart.
  • Please note: The University of Stuttgart is not in the position to provide you with accommodation (except exchange students from overseas). We try to give you some useful information on how to find private accommodation.
  • If you have been assigned a room in one of the dormitories, we would like to inform you that moving in earlier than the date stated on your contract is not possible. For the time in between you need to book a room somewhere else. We provide you with information about temporary accommodation.

If you need further assistance once you are here, you can always contact one of our buddies on duty at one of our ready.study.stuttgart information stands.
