In the Master’s in Energy Technology degree program you will learn about the linkages between the natural and engineering sciences and concepts of the conversion, storage and distribution of energy. This will lead you to solid knowledge in the areas of energy conversion and utilization. You will occupy yourself with the potentials and economics of various energy sources (fossil fuels, nuclear energy, solar energy, wind energy, hydro energy and biomass) and how they can be integrated into the energy system.
On completing your studies, you will be equipped to analyze concepts for the installations and uses of renewable and conventional energy technology from the energy and efficiency standpoints. You will also be able to plan and carry out analytical and modelling studies.
Having the following interests and abilities will be advantageous for you:
- Successfully applying natural science, mathematical, and engineering science methods for abstracting, formulating, and solving complex research and development assignments in industrial or research facilities, examining them critically and, as necessary, take them to the next level. Working out concepts and solutions that bear on fundamental but also unorthodox questions by broadly involving other disciplines
- Applying engineering scientific judgment to developing original, innovative products and processes
- Designing and implementing analytical, modelling, and experimental studies and in their course evaluate data critically in order to draw the necessary conclusions Gaining depth and scope in studying energy technology, in order to orient yourself to technologies in your own area of expertise as well as in peripheral areas in order to be able to investigate and evaluate newly emerging technologies.
In the Master program Energy Technology students learn about scientific and engineering contexts and concepts of energy conversion, storage and distribution. They deal with the potential and economic efficiency of various fuels (fossil fuels, hydropower, biomass, nuclear, solar and wind energy) and their integration into the energy system.
After completing their studies, graduates will be able to analyze and evaluate plant and utilization concepts for renewable and conventional energy technology from an energy and economic perspective. After completing their studies, they will be able to analyze and evaluate plant and utilization concepts in renewable and conventional energy technology from an energy and economic perspective. Graduates also have broad knowledge in the field of energy technology and can therefore familiarize themselves with future technologies in their own specialist area as well as in peripheral areas and evaluate them from an ecological and economic point of view. You will find employment in globally active companies, medium-sized businesses or engineering offices. You will also take on interesting tasks in the consulting industry, in the public sector, in the area of plant approval and monitoring as well as in development aid organizations.
