On 12 April 2019 in Berlin, the Head of University Communications and Press Spokesperson at the University of Stuttgart, Dr. Hans-Herwig Geyer, was chosen as the speaker of the communications expert panel of the Alliance of leading Universities of Technology in Germany, TU9. Those responsible for communications at the nine member universities are each represented on the newly established committee. The aim of the expert panel is to pool together the shared communications-related interests and activities of the TU9 universities as well as to advise the TU9 Executive Board, the annual general meeting and the management of the alliance in strategic communications questions.
Prof. Wolfram Ressel, TU9 President and Rector of the University of Stuttgart, offered his congratulations on the choice of speaker and commented on the task facing the expert panel: “It’s in the interest of the technical universities represented in the alliance to convey to the public the important social contributions which its member universities make through their research and teaching at the cutting edge of scientific and technological developments.”
Ressel announced that TU9 was going to focus on the topic of “An ethical dimension to engineering”. He said that a public debate was of paramount importance, and that artificial intelligence was going to be the key technology of the 21st century. “With the experience and cooperation of the communications experts at the TU9 Universities we will be able to increase the work we do with the public, with a focus on some highly topical themes”, said Ressel.
