The men from Stuttgart secured first place in the team competition of the DHM apparatus gymnastics. Fabian Geyer and Kilian Krapp from the University of Stuttgart also excelled individually: Geyer claimed gold on the vault and high bar, along with silver on the rings. Krapp earned a silver medal on the high bar and bronze in the combined event.
As the competition was moved from summer 2024 to January 2025, the preparations took place during the Christmas period. The two DHM participants from the University of Stuttgart, Fabian Geyer and Kilian Krapp, nevertheless started the championships in high spirits. “Our entire team approached the competition with the same mindset—supporting and cheering each other on,” says Krapp, a Master’s student in chemistry. “As every year, the atmosphere in the team was excellent - whether active gymnasts or fans, everyone was in a great mood. The DHM is always a truly special event, especially because the audience brings so much energy,” says Geyer, describing the atmosphere.
Training on the university campus
The preparation for the competition is intense. For Krapp, this means: “I completed five to six training sessions of two to three hours per week. I usually handle it quite well, though it can get stressful when coursework submissions, reports, and exams coincide with competitions." Fabian Geyer values the university sports program: "I’m now working as a doctoral researcher at the Institute of Flight Mechanics and Controls (IFR). Time for training is limited, which is why I am very grateful for the opportunity to train directly on campus.”
The Stuttgart DHM women's team secured 7th place in the team competition. In the ADH Cup, the women finished 15th, while the men placed 7th. Coach Mark Hinzmann is pleased with the results: “The DHM artistic gymnastics competition was a great success overall. We are now looking forward to the next competition, which will take place in Tübingen from June 20 to 21, 2025.”
