The application period for the 2022/23 winter semester at the University of Stuttgart has started. Students can apply for more than 160 Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs. The study programs include new Master’s degrees in the fields of computer science and construction.
Master’s in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science
The demand for professionals with skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science is steadily increasing. In commerce, administration, and research, there is a lack of appropriately trained data scientists. The University of Stuttgart is therefore offering the new Master of Science program in AI and Data Science.
The standard period of study is four semesters. Students will acquire the basics of computer science as well as in-depth knowledge of Data Science and AI. They can also choose an additional subject from Computational Linguistics, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Automotive Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics, where they can apply what they have learned. Thanks to a well-founded basic education combined with study focuses, graduates can readily familiarize themselves with Big Data topics and apply their newly acquired knowledge. This is necessary in order to meet the various requirements arising from the different industries and the many fields of activity in Data Science.
Prerequisites for the Master’s degree program are knowledge of mathematics, including numerics and stochastics, as well as basic knowledge of computer science (theory, practice), Data Science, and AI. Upon completion of the Master’s degree program, students will be able to work in both industry and research. More information about the study program.
Master’s in Information Systems
Starting in the 2022/23 winter semester, the University of Stuttgart will also offer the independent Master of Science in Information Systems. The program combines business, social science, and engineering with computer science. What makes the program special is that students have maximum freedom in choosing their modules. There is one required course on research methods in information systems. Students at the University of Stuttgart can also choose from more than 120 modules in the fields of information systems, business administration, computer science, engineering, and technology.
The Master’s degree program offers individual specializations such as IT Management, IT Architecture, Business Decision Intelligence, Software Engineering and Management, Startups, Manufacturing, and Logistics. The standard period of study is four semesters. The prerequisite for the Master’s degree program is a Bachelor’s degree in business information systems or a related subject. Online Master’s degree program in Building Physics and Environmental Responsive Construction
Shortage of raw materials, rising energy prices, and climate and demographic change: Professionals in the field of construction are facing new challenges. Here, climate- and culture-friendly construction holds great potential.
The Online Master’s in Building Physics is a part-time course offered by the University of Stuttgart. The program, which will start in the 2022/23 winter semester, will address the aspects of climate- and culture-appropriate construction in a new specialization. The current Online Master’s in Building Physics will become the Online Master’s in Building Physics and Environmental Responsive Construction in the winter semester. After studying the fundamentals of building physics, students can choose between the two specializations: Building Physics and Environmental Responsive Construction.
The building physics specialization imparts knowledge on heat and moisture protection, room and building acoustics, sound emission control, aspects of daylighting and artificial lighting design, and fire safety and prevention. Environmental Responsive Construction teaches scientific principles, methods and principles of climate and culture sound construction. Individual climatic regions serve as examples, whereby traditional construction methods and building forms play an essential role.
Prerequisites for the Master’s degree program include an academic degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, or another field related to construction, engineering, or the environment as well as at least one year of specialized work experience. Renaming of study programs
The two Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in “Softwaretechnik” have been renamed “Software Engineering”. In addition, the previous Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Automotive and Engine Technology have been renamed “Automotive Engineering” since the winter semester.
