The annual meeting of the German Academic International Network (GAIN) took place in San Francisco from 23 to 25 August. It is the largest conference for German scientists in the US and Canada interested in career prospects in Germany. Again this year, Rector Prof. Wolfram Ressel and Dr. Wolfgang Holtkamp, Senior Advisor for International Affairs, were present to inform about career paths at the University of Stuttgart.
In the context of information events, discussions at the stand, lunch sessions, workshops and plenary meetings, Rector Ressel had the opportunity to personally present the development possibilities in science and research at the University of Stuttgart. Among other things, he was a sought-after interlocutor in the workshop on career opportunities in engineering. Ressel also provided detailed information on topics such as strategies for dual career couples and appointment negotiations, and answered individual questions from potential returnees.
The GAIN annual meeting, initiated in 2003, is hosted by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of their joint initiative “GAIN“. With more than 500 participants again in 2019, it is considered an internationally important forum for academic and scientific exchange.
