Seal of approval for the faculties of mechanical engineering

July 16, 2020

The faculties of mechanical and process engineering at the University of Stuttgart have been awarded the seal of approval for teaching, research and organization.

Once again, the faculties of mechanical engineering at the University of Stuttgart have been awarded the seal of approval from the Faculty Open Day for Mechanical Engineering and Process Engineering (FTMV). The faculty open day awards the seal of approval to faculties and departments in the fields of mechanical engineering and process engineering at German universities that meet the quality standards of the FTMV in teaching, research and organization.

This award demonstrates that the University of Stuttgart remains one of the country's top universities in research and teaching in the fields of mechanical engineering and process engineering. This is great news for the faculties of energy, process and biotechnology engineering, and the faculties of construction, production and automotive engineering, together with the Joint Commission for Mechanical Engineering (GKM), which supports the participation of the two faculties in the seal of approval.

“The assessment process for awarding the FTMV seal of approval evaluates the quality of research and teaching in mechanical engineering. The FTMV seal of approval shows that the University of Stuttgart, with its vital research hub, even goes beyond the FTMV quality requirements in research and that the university’s own mechanisms for quality assurance have a positive effect on teaching”, says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Joachim Groß, director of the GKM and head of the Institute of Thermal Dynamics and Thermal Process Engineering at the University of Stuttgart.
