Following extensive preparations, the University of Stuttgart reached a significant milestone with the start of february: The successful transition of the core system for its finances to the new SAP S/4HANA version. This groundbreaking decision represents a significant stride toward digital transformation, given that SAP S/4HANA relies on innovative database technology and facilitates modern operational processes.
This transition enhances the university's competitive edge and enables it to effectively manage its financial resources. Chancellor Anna Steiger places particular emphasis on the strategic advantages of the new system, citing double-entry bookkeeping as a means to enhance financial management, planning, and reporting. "Compared to the previous system, SAP S/4HANA will make the management of our finances much more transparent."
Vice Rector and CIO Dr. Simone Rehm, who has been involved in overseeing this challenging project for over two years, expresses a sense of relief and pride, stating, "We are thrilled to be not only the first university in Baden-Württemberg, but also the first of the TU9 Universities to successfully transition to SAP S/4HANA. This lays the technological foundation for the digitalization of other processes, for example in procurement. All of these tasks are performed within a framework featuring a modern user interface, designed to streamline the processes for users across various institutes.
Both the Chancellor and the CIO underscore the remarkable dedication of the project team and numerous other employees from various departments within the university. Their collective efforts have been indispensable in achieving this success.
