Digital technologies for distance learning

The Donetsk National Technical University (DonNTU) is a university in exile. The students live in all parts of Ukraine and other countries, while the university operates in the Lviv region. Students must therefore study online. Exploring how modern digital technologies can be effectively integrated was a key focus of a training program at the International Office of the University of Stuttgart. The training, supported by the DAAD program 'Ukraine Digital,' featured insights into video tutorial creation, AI writing workshops, and a visit to ARENA2036. Additionally, Ukrainian students at the University of Stuttgart shared their experiences with the admission process and studying in Germany.

Supporting our Ukrainian colleagues is a priority for us, particularly through the use of digital technologies in teaching. The University of Stuttgart is not only helping DonNTU navigate these challenging times but also supporting its growth into a modern educational institution," says Alexander Brem, Vice Rector for Science Transfer and International Affairs.

Praciticing research together

The university also collaborates with Ukrainian universities in the field of research. The Institute of Robust Power Semiconductor Systems (ILH) is currently hosting 14 professors from its partner universities, Zaporizhzhya University of Technology and Lviv National Polytechnic University. The aim of the DIPOLE workshop is to jointly develop a funding proposal for a DFG research project. The project aims to use digital twins to enable the status recording of power electronic systems such as drive inverters in electric vehicles over their entire life cycle. A second workshop with the partner universities will take place virtually.

„I am looking forward to working with our two Ukrainian partner universities with their very well-matched complementary research profiles. My special thanks also go to the staff of the central administration, who quickly and helpfully supported the short-term organization of the workshop," says Ingmar Kallfass, Director and Head of the ILH.
