In mid-June, Prof. Wolfram Ressel and Prof. Dag Rune Olsen, the rectors of the universities of Stuttgart and Bergen respectively, signed a memorandum of understanding. This creates a framework for a range of extra opportunities for cooperation between the two universities, which are both well-renowned for their research strength.

This builds on a successful long-standing partnership between the University of Stuttgart’s Institute for Modelling Hydraulic and Environmental Systems under Prof. Rainer Helmig and the Faculty for Maths and Sciences at the University of Bergen, led by Prof. Helge K. Dahle.

Around 17,000 people study at the University of Bergen, including roughly 1900 international students. Seventy percent of professors have a nationality other than Norwegian, which guarantees a high degree of inter-culturalism in teaching and on campus.
