The University of Stuttgart greets 93 international students, who are arriving this month to further their studies. Around half of the incoming students are coming as part of the Erasmus program, the other half come from our partner universities around the world. The majority of the students are studying for their bachelor’s degree.

Orientation and information on campus

In the first few days, the University of Stuttgart puts on an extensive orientation program. The international students will be kept informed about the various formalities before their studies begin through information events, group advisory sessions, and personal support. The campus tour will familiarize them with their new surroundings, and the shopping tour will show them which are the best places to shop near the campus. The international students will also begin their time in Stuttgart with a four-week intensive German course, which is designed to prepare them for studying and living in Germany.

Support with the buddy program

Half of international students have signed up for the popular buddy program ready.study.stuttgart. The International Office organizes the program together with Student Services Stuttgart. As part of the buddy program, more senior students at the University of Stuttgart, who have been given training by the International Office, welcome new students. The buddies help them with the initial formalities, for example in their halls of residence or at the Bürgerbüro (citizens’ office), and give them the support they need to settle in on campus and in Stuttgart.
