Every day, countless new products flood the market—from televisions and the latest smartphones to cheap t-shirts. Many of these items have a short lifespan. Some fall out of favor very quickly, while others prove to be of poor quality. This accelerated turnover of products consumes resources and contributes to an ever-growing volume of waste. What options do designers have to counteract this trend, and what responsibility do they bear for these developments?
