The documentary film "Container City | Last Summer" will be shown on Tuesday, July 02, 2024, at 9 p.m., in the project room of the Kunstverein Wagenhalle e.v.
"Container City | Last Summer" documents an unusual place in an ordinary city and a last summer that wasn't one. In the shadow of S21 and in the spotlight of iba27, the film explores the productive city of Stuttgart and its International Building Exhibition. It examines delays in urban planning processes, the legacy of industrial modernism, the human scale of building culture, the concept of permanent temporality, and the inherently unfinished nature of the city. A film about obedience and movement, appropriation and reshuffling in Stuttgart. (GER 2024, 62 min, University of Stuttgart, dir. Tino Buchholz)
The film will be followed by a Q&A session with director Tino Buchholz.
The film premiere at the Kunstverein Wagenhalle e.V. is the culmination of a knowledge and technology transfer project sponsored by the University of Stuttgart. To facilitate visual knowledge transfer, Container City, and particularly Studio Umschichten, was documented from 2022 to 2024, highlighting significant features for urban development.

About the director
Tino Buchholz holds a doctorate in urban research and is a documentary film director. He works as a postdoc at the Institute of Urban Planning, Theories and Methods of Urban Planning. His research focuses on planning theory, housing policy and urban social movements. "Container City | Last Summer" is his third documentary film.
