What is the recipe for a successful career? No contacts no career: we see time and again that getting ahead at work doesn’t just depend on knowledge and skill, but also on lots of targeted self-marketing and knowing the right people. Not all job vacancies even get advertised and even contracts and projects often get given to people from one’s own network that one already knows and trusts. Networking is a must if you want to progress in your career.
Women operate and are involved in various systems: their job, voluntary work, family. They are usually socially competent and well integrated in social circles. They are the perfect networkers; but do women also strategically use their network potential to promote themselves and to help them progress? Are insider relationships between women just as effective as the famous old boys networks? What do successful female networkers consider to be the key to success?
The lecture Women in networks – the underestimated benefits of supportive structures, delivered by Manuela Rukavina, will investigate these questions and the subsequent discussion will offer an opportunity to look at this topic together in more depth.
Alongside Manuela Rukavina, other members of the discussion panel will include representatives from the association Working Moms e.V. Moderation: Regina Rapp, Head of the Mentoring Program at the University of Stuttgart.
Following the event, guests will be offered refreshments in the Kaminzimmer – the perfect chance for you to actively improve your networking skills.

Working Moms e.V. is a network of working moms. The Working Moms believe that women can of course have both – children and a career. The Working Moms support women and advocate for a better compatibility of work and family life. By passing on their own experiences, the Working Moms want to help women, employees and society in general to change their views on this topic.
